Aqualina success at Synchro Masters’

On Saturday 16th November, a team of nine swimmers representing Aqualina, from Stevenage in Hertfordshire, attended the Swim England Synchronised Swimming National Masters Championships 2019 at the K2 pool in Crawley, Surrey. This year saw the highest-ever number for entries, with ages ranging from 18yrs to 75yrs plus.

Aqualina followed the trend, having their highest-ever number of swimmers in attendance, and by far exceeding any previous medal count.

All nine swimmers were part of the Aqualina Combination team, which achieved gold medal position, so everyone went home with at least one gold medal. They then achieved another gold medal in the 18yrs to 25yrs duet category. Aqualina head coach Kerri Brennan finished off her medal haul for the day with a silver medal in the 18yrs to 25yrs category, to add to her two gold medals in the team and duet section.

Tom Brennan, Swim England Hertfordshire’s President and Synchronised Swimming manager, said “I am extremely proud of all our athletes who really have put Hertfordshire on the map for Masters Synchro”. “It was also great to have Hertfordshire’s Ian and Sheila Mackenzie present, in Ian’s Swim England President capacity, to witness such a successful day for Hertfordshire Synchro”.
