Open Water events

The event gave participants the opportunity to experience open water swimming for the first time or sharpen their skills ahead of competing in 3km, 2km, or 1km races. Five experienced open water coaches generously volunteered their time to mentor and inspire the next generation of endurance swimmers.

Perfect weather contributed to a joyful, carnival-like atmosphere as families cheered on the young athletes throughout the day.

Jeremy Irvine of Herts Open Water said “the success of the day was down to our brilliant volunteers, officials, safety team and club coaches who always put the swimmers’ enjoyment and wellbeing first, I am especially proud of the brave younger swimmers who took part on their first open water swim in the 1km course”. It was a great day, made worthwhile by the huge smiles on the swimmers’ faces.
