Swim England Hertfordshire Open Water Championships 2023

(held as part of the Swim England East Region Open Water Championships 2023)

Whitlingham Country Park,  Norwich – 9th July 2023

Conditions for this year’s Open Water Championships were near perfect with the water temperature comfortably over 20°C, meaning that wetsuits were not allowed, the day was set for fast racing. 

This year, the championship saw an impressive turnout with over 350 swimmers from 62 clubs taking part. Hertfordshire boasted a strong presence with 12 clubs and 46 swimmers competing across all four events – the 3k, 1k, 2k, and 5k races.

Seven swimmers, including three from Hertfordshire clubs; (Barnaby O’Donnell from Bushey and William Harris & Prisha Tapre from Watford) swam both the 3k and 5k events

Congratulations to Swim England Hertfordshire swimmers who achieved National Qualification at this event: 

• 2k Constantine Galliafas(Watford),
• 3k Daniel Williams (Hatfield).

Swim England Hertfordshire President, Jane O’Brien was on hand to present medals and county banners to the winners.
