Swim England Hertfordshire are excited to offer and exclusive Open Water & Distance Workshop with 2x Olympic Champion Sharon van Rouwendaal – Wednesday 1 April 2026
Together with Alberto Marigo of Blue Point Swimming we are offering swimmers a truly special training opportunity Sharon van Rouwendaal — 2x Olympic Gold Medallist (10km marathon swimming), multiple World Champion and European Champion — will deliver an exclusive distance and open water workshop for competitive club swimmers.
Sharon is passionate about growing open water swimming in the UK and bringing the same level of popularity it enjoys across Europe. She warmly welcomes club coaches and is eager to share real insights from her elite career, including:
- What it takes to become an Olympic Gold Medallist
- The critical importance of stroke precision and efficiency in distance swimming
- Her own Olympic training sets and periodisation cycles
- Debunking common myths about open water racing
The session is tailored for competitive swimmers aged 13+ who compete (or want to develop) in distance and open water events.
Workshop Details
- Date: Wednesday 1 April 2026
- Time: 1:30 pm – 4:45 pm
- Venue: Harrow School (HA1 3EA)
- Format: Combination of pool-based training, dry-land work, and a Q&A session
Coaches from Hertfordshire clubs are invited to attend free of charge to observe all parts of the session — especially the Q&A — and gain direct access to Sharon’s elite-level knowledge. This rare and inspiring opportunity for your distance swimmers to train with and meet a true Olympic champion.
