Our development weekend is now a well established part of our sporting year. It is an opportunity to network and catch up with old friends and making new contacts as well as learning new skills or updating the ones you may already have.
We are offering a variety of courses that will help the personal development of technical officials, club volunteers, team managers and coaches. The weekend also includes development opportunities for young volunteers and disabled athletes & supporters.

With John Pope
This workshop is for those who have completed their timekeepers course, followed by Part 1 of Judge level 1 course. This should be followed up with sessions on the poolside including mentoring sessions so that you are feeling more competant. Part 2 confirms and enforces your understanding of your responsibilities including the rules of turns prior to your assessment.

Team Managers are an essential part of the team structure, irrespective of the discipline, as they support participation at events. Generally Team Managers are responsible for ensuring that teams reach competitions safely and that during events, the athletes are cared for.
Module 2 – extended overnight stays
This is a 3 hour workshop which covers more complex subjects such as requesting international permits and safe travel abroad. It aims to equip you with the knowledge you may need to rely on to support the team in all situations during their trip or extended visit at home or in a foreign country.

This workshop is for those who have completed Judge level 2 including the required number of poolside sessions following the satisfactory assessment.

With Jane O’Brien
This workshop is for those who have completed the Judge level 2 Part 1 course and have completed some poolside mentoring in the role. Part 2 confirms and enforces your understanding of your responsibilities and the rules pertaining to strokes prior to your assessment.

Swim England deliver a Swim England/ UK Coaching Safeguarding and Protecting Children Workshop which support the recommendations made by the CPSU. This face-to-face course uses swimming specific examples throughout and refers to Wavepower throughout.

Swim England has linked up with the Child Protection in Sport Unit and has accredited Swim England tutors to deliver the Time to Listen training for Club Welfare Officers.
The Time to Listen training provides the opportunity to acquire key knowledge necessary for the role and responsibilities of a Welfare Officer, to adopt a child-focused approach to safeguarding and to learn about the action/s which should be taken should any incident occur. The course is face to face and attendance is mandatory for all Swim England Welfare Officers regardless of their experience or professional background in child safeguarding or protection. The course only needs to be attended once.

This is for qualified Judge level 2S – (Starters) As a starter you are qualified to referee galas including Licensed Level four galas on your own and with a qualified referee, licensed level three galas. This is an introduction to refereeing to help you through the process. It is also a great stepping stone towards becoming a qualified referee.

This workshop is for those who have completed their Judge Level 1 Course and have successfully passed their poolside assessment. This should be followed up with sessions on the poolside including mentoring sessions so that you are feeling more competent before attending the Part 2 Course.
